State Fair Attendance Numbers Are In
The numbers are in and they're not what officials want to hear. Attendance at the Nebraska State Fair this year was down more than 16 percent this year. Just over 238-thousand people attended the annual 10-day event. That may seem like a lot, but just to give you an idea, back in 1996, the attendance was more than 600,000 people.
The fair manager attributes the decline to hot weather, including several days of 100-degree-plus temperatures. He also says the fair needs more money from both the state and through private donations to improve.
