State Fair Gets Much Needed Boost

The future of the State Fair has been in question for months now. Fair officials needed 400-thousand dollars by mid-month to meet financial obligations. And Monday the Governor and several local organizations stepped up to the plate to help out which could save the State Fair.

It looks like this 135 year-old tradition will stand strong, at least for the next few months. Governor Johanns announced that the state will donate nearly 200-thousand dollars to help pay part of the fairs expenses for six months. Nebraskas horse racing industry gave the fair a 150-thousand dollar donation. The State Fair board also chipped in 50 grand.
