State Gets Grants for Homeland Security

Today Governor Mike Johanns announced more than 19 million dollars in grant money will be awarded to local communities through out the state. Seventy-eight counties in Nebraska will get part of that money to upgrade the State's communications systems. Lancaster county will receive 1 million dollars. That money will be used to add 17 rural fire districts into the Lancaster County communications system. It's something firefighters says will help them respond a lot faster. The Nebraska State Patrol will also receive 1.5 million dollars. That money will be used to upgrade its communications system.
