State Patrol marijuana bust on I-80

The Nebraska State Patrol has seized more than 100 pounds of marijuana in two different traffic stops near the Lincoln airport.

State Patrol spokeswoman Deb Collins says the drugs were found during Interstate 80 traffic stops on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. A trooper stopped a 1999 Ford pickup for speeding Thursday, and after getting consent to search, the trooper found 91 pounds of marijuana in a hidden compartment under the gas tank. The 59-year-old Alabama driver was arrested.

The second traffic stop a day earlier yielded 9.7 pounds of marijuana. A trooper found two duffel bags filed with the drug in the truck of a Chevrolet Impala after he smelled marijuana during the traffic stop. Two 24-year-old Wisconsin men were arrested.
