State poet Kloefkorn remembered

Friends and family remembered a well-known Nebraska poet Wednesday afternoon.

William Kloefkorn was a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  Nearly 800 people packed the auditorium at Nebraska Wesleyan for his funeral.  Kloefkorn taught at Wesleyan for 40 years.  He was named state poet in 1982.

His grandson,  Willie Kloefkorn spoke at the service.  ” Grandpa had an amazing way with words, unlike any other and a voice that made ordering off the lunch menu sound exciting.  And I know that that sounds like a line out of a Dos Equis commercial but he truly may have been the most interesting man in the world.”

Other attendees at Kloefkorn's funeral included Nebraska Wesleyan faculty, Lincoln Public Schools officials and city council members.
