Jared calls Kansas City, MO his hometown. Some of his fondest memories growing up are watching sports with his father and grandfather. "I'll never forget my first Husker football game day at 8 years old. When I looked over the balcony at the Embassy Suites Hotel, I saw the entire lobby packed to the brim with every single person wearing red. I realized then how special of a place Lincoln was for a sports fan like me”, Jared recalls.
From there, he set out to get a journalism degree from the University of Missouri. Before coming to Channel 8 KLKN-TV, he was a sports anchor/reporter at KOMU 8 News in Columbia, MO covering SEC sports and sports producer at KCTV5 News in Kansas City, MO covering the Royals and Chiefs. When asked about his job as weekend anchor for Channel 8 Eyewitness News Sports he said, “My father was born and raised in Scottsbluff, went to college at Kearney State and taught school in Grand Island for 13 years. To be able to work in my family's home state, in the mecca of the college sports world, is a dream come true.” You can watch Jared weekends on Channel 8 Eyewitness News.
