The Nebraska football team likes what it sees in the true freshman. That's not anything new though.

Maurice Washington has caught the coaching staff's attention since day one of fall camp. And after a promising performance against Wisconsin last Saturday, the Huskers hope to use him in a variety of ways the rest of this season.

"He's a playmaker. So we're going to find ways to get him the ball," offensive coordinator Troy Walters said on Wednesday. "Find ways to match him up against someone he has an advantage over. So you're going to see him in a number of different roles.

"We've got to be smart. He's still a freshman. So we have to be careful not to over work him. But we have to find ways to get the ball in his hands. Because when he has the ball in his hands he's pretty special."
