Lincoln, Neb. -- The No. 16 Nebraska women's gymnastics fell just short to the No. 18 Minnesota Golden Gophers, 196.325-196.600.

The Huskers attempted to battle back from a tough first rotation, but were unable to make up the deficit as Minnesota did enough to hold off Nebraska in the final three rotations. Junior Taylor Houchin and Minnesota's Lexy Ramler shared the vault event title with scores of 9.875. Senior Sienna Crouse and Houchin shared the uneven bars event title with scores of 9.925. Ramler took the balance beam event title with a score of 9.90. Senior Megan Schweihofer, Junior Sierra Hassel and Minnesota's Paige Williams shared the floor exercise event title with scores of 9.90.

Rotation One
To start off the meet, Nebraska began on vault. Houchin led the way for the Big Red with a 9.875 on vault. Crouse followed with a strong vault with a score of 9.850, while Adnerys De Jesus continued her strong season with a 9.825. Anika Dujakovich hit with a score of 9.65. Kaylee Quinn and Verceles Carr rounded out the rotation with scores of 9.15 and 9.075, respectively, due to falls.

On bars, Minnesota's Lu had the strongest finishes for the Gophers with a 9.90. Ramler was not far behind with a score of 9.875 and Hannah Willmarth with a 9.825. Nebraska tallied a team score of 48.350, while Minnesota combined for a team score of 49.175. The Huskers trailed after the first rotation.

Rotation Two
Next on to bars, the Huskers bounced back thanks in part to Crouse and Houchin both scoring a 9.925, tying a career high for Crouse and a season high for Houchin. Verceles Carr tied a career high with a score of 9.90. Freshman Sarah Hargrove went for a new career high, 9.875 and De Jesus finished with a score of 9.80. Kelli Chung rounded out the Huskers with a score of 9.575.

On vault, Minnesota stayed just out of reach for Nebraska. Ramler once again led the way for the Gophers with a score of 9.875. Paige Williams and Ona Loper both finished with a score of 9.85 as well. NU combined for a new season high team score on uneven bars with a score of 49.425. Minnesota continued to lead Nebraska at the halfway point 98.250-97.775.

Rotation Three
Moving on to beam, Nebraska continued to climb its way back to the retake the lead thanks to a pair of 9.875 scores from Crouse and Schweihofer. Sierra Hassel finished with a score of 9.85, while Makayla Curtis and Hargrove both finished with a score of 9.825, new career highs for both girls. Houchin finished with a score of 9.275 due to a fall.

On floor, Minnesota continued their strong night as four Gophers went for a score of 9.825. Williams had the highest finishes for Minnesota, a 9.90, while Ali Sonier earned herself a 9.875. Nebraska continued to close the gap going for a team score of 49.275 on balance beam. Minnesota finished with the same score of floor exercise to keep the Gophers out front 147.500-147.025 going into the last rotation.

Rotation Four
With the meet coming down to floor, the Huskers got two great performances out of Schweihofer and Hassel who finished with a score of 9.90, a new season high for Schweihofer. Crouse hit with a score of 9.875 In her first meet of the season coming back from an injury, Catelyn Orel finished with a 9.825.

In the all-around, for Nebraska, Crouse took home to all-around event title with a combined score of 39.525. Houchin finished with a score of 38.925. For Minnesota, Loper finished with a score of 38.400 and Ramler a score of 39.475.

The Huskers will continue Big Ten competition with a road meet at Ohio State on Saturday Feb. 16 before competing at the Elevate the Stage event on Friday, Feb. 22.
