ALLO announces completion of major construction on state-of-the-art fiber network in Lincoln
Allo Communications (ALLO), a Nebraska-based telecommunications company offering fiber communications and entertainment services including broadband internet, phone, and TV, today announced the completion of major construction on the Lincoln Fiber to Home Project, an agreement between ALLO and the City of Lincoln to build an all-fiber network providing broadband internet, television, and phone services to every home and business in Lincoln.
“Now that almost all of Lincoln is fiber-ready, we can’t wait for more people to experience the superior speed and services that ALLO has to offer,” said Brad Moline, ALLO President. “Our reception in the Lincoln community has been great and we look forward to bringing our technology to life, helping to transform how the people of Lincoln live, work, and play.”
Development of ALLO’s Lincoln network began in March 2016. The largely underground network required substantial boring and fiber placement – more than 1.1 billion fiber strand feet – making it one of the largest projects of its kind in the country. As per their agreement with the city, ALLO’s construction was to be finished within four years. With the help of their project partners, ALLO completed major boring and drilling construction in just under three years.
“With a focus on safety, efficiency, and transparency, we were able to finish ahead of schedule,” added Moline. “This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and collaboration of our project partners. From Mayor Beutler and the public utility companies to Bauer Underground and all our contractors and technicians, this truly was a team effort. And most of all, we’d like to thank the people of Lincoln for always supporting and believing in our effort.”
According to Lincoln Mayor Chris Beutler, the new fiber network will better community recognition not just today, but tomorrow as well. “ALLO, in partnership with the City, has made Lincoln a national leader in internet speed, which makes our great city even more attractive to those looking to live and do business here. I want to again thank ALLO for this tremendous investment, which truly represents an investment in the future of Lincoln.”
ALLO specializes in fiber broadband services with residential internet speeds up to one gigabit per second and a direct connection to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure for business customers. With 100% direct fiber connections, ALLO delivers a competitive edge to businesses and a better internet experience for all users. Today, ALLO provides fiber communications services to nine Midwest communities, including recent additions Hastings, Neb. and Fort Morgan, Colo.
Looking ahead, Moline expressed enthusiasm regarding the possibilities of the state-of-the-art fiber network. “With Lincoln’s designation as one of only 25 Smart Gigabit Communities in the nation, we have fulfilled our goal of bringing a world-class fiber network to the city. We now look forward to helping make the community better for growing families and businesses. When we started three years ago, the average internet speed in Lincoln was between 4 and 12 megabits per second (Mbps). Today, our residential customers enjoy symmetrical upload and download speeds starting at 300 Mbps up to 1 GIG. The people of Lincoln deserve a superior internet experience and we’re happy to deliver it to them.”
