Tons of fun and interactive activities were offered to Madonna patients on Friday at their annual fair.

The adaptive sports fair is open to the public.

It's used as an opportunity to provide resources to those who have undergone a traumatic injury or illness.

Event organizers say it's a chance to connect patients at Madonna to information about adaptive sports teams and other recreational activities to stay healthy.

"Our goal is for them to return to life roles, and learn the adaptions to do that, whether it's sports or fishing or recreation," said Linda Ohnoutka, a recreation therapist at Madonna Health.

There were 15 sport and recreation organizations at the event.

Including activities such as rock climbing, adaptive kayaking, or even basketball.

Madonna's local basketball team, called the Madonna Magic, travel to other states to compete against the best of the best.

"It's definitely a lot of fun, and a great group of guys. We have a para–Olympian on our team. We have a bunch of people who know how to move the ball around but also know how to have a good time," said Assistant coach and player Dale Hayes Jr.

They had their best season to date last year, capturing fifth place in the national tournament.

Hayes says it's a great way to make new friends and exercise at the same time.

"We're all pretty close on the basketball team, we all get along well and have a good time," said Hayes.

In addition to the sports teams, the Live Well, Go Fish exhibit has a wheelchair accessible pontoon boat to fish out of.

There was even an opportunity for patients to visit with some horses.

"It's a great opportunity to stay healthy and build friendships," said Ohnoutka.
