Standup magician Derek Hughes helps Lincoln's Comedy Loft celebrate one year
Friday marked one year of laughter and good times in Lincoln.
A year ago, the Comedy Loft held its grand opening, becoming Lincoln's only full–time comedy club; and the first one since 1994.
The loft has had performers like Kevin Brown, Preacher Lawson and Larry the Cable Guy.
Friday's headliner was standup magician Derek Hughes, who talked about the importance of Lincoln having a comedy club.
"I think standup comedy is actually a very, very important piece of the communal puzzle in our modern society," Hughes said. "We need to be able to explore what it means to be human. We need to be able to laugh at ourselves, which is becoming harder and harder to do as we become divided and dissected and stressed out."
It also included performances by Tyler Walsh and Charlie Kojis.
Derek Hughes will be performing again Saturday night at the Comedy Loft.
