Employees working at a Northeast Lincoln retail store got the rest of the day off for a reason you wouldn't expect.

On Sunday, a car rammed into the Dollar Tree located at North 70th and Adams, creating a large hole in the side of the building.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue was called in on a delta rescue call.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital for further treatment, injuries are unknown at this time.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

They will, however, be getting the rest of the day off.

At least a day, probably several days, the structural damage is pretty significant. We've had crews inside up in the ceiling area, making sure we don't have any gas leaks or anything," said Fire Captain Andrew Evans.

LFR says there was no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved.

The investigation is continuing, more details will be added when they are released.
