Babysitting Classes Help Prep Kids for Childcare
Many middle school kids turn to babysitting when looking for a summer job.
Since taking care of someone elses children is an important task, the YMCA's in Lincoln offer babysitting classes.
Kids 10-14 can learn the basics of babysitting, including changing diapers, preparing food, and setting up their own hours and wages.
However, the main goal of these classes aside from building a babysitting business, is safety.
"[They learn] home safety, talking about a little bit of First Aid, but also just age appropriate activities for kiddos that they'll be taking care of," said Melissa Kinzie, a babysitting class instructor at the Copple Family YMCA.
These babysitting classes are available year round at several different YMCA locations in Lincoln.
