LPD is looking for a hit and run driver from an incident from May 17th.

It involves a child getting hit by a vehicle

The boy is riding his bike across highway two at 56th. When he's hit by a gold GMC Sierra pickup, with Kansas plates at the time.

The boy and bike are dragged along some 25 feet. The kid yelled stop, obviously stunned by what happened. He's able to escape but the guy keeps going.

Local bike shop, Cycle Works said this happens more often than you'd think.

"We do see a lot of estimates or repairs from you know, people who bring their bikes in that are after an accident so we do see it more than we'd like to," Damon Hershey said.

He urges not only cyclist but those driving to be more aware of their surroundings.

"As a person on a bike it is frustrating, I mean we are all supposed to be sharing the roads. We all need to be conscious about who's out there on the roads in any mod of transportation," Hershey said.

Police say the driver is a white male in his 50s with a beard.

The truck had an extended cab with a dark tint line on the windshield.
