LES CEO receives national public power award
Kevin G. Wailes, Chief Executive Officer of Lincoln Electric System, received the Alan Richardson Statesmanship Award at the American Public Power Association’s national conference in Austin, Texas on June 11. This award honors public power leaders who work to achieve consensus on national issues important to public power utilities.
Aside from his work with LES, Wailes has been an active member of the APPA for more than 35 years. He has represented public power in cyber and physical security forums, national policy discussions, and mutual aid engagements. He contributed significantly as an APPA board member and as co-chair of the Electricity Subsector Coordinating Council, an industry-government partnership. Wailes challenges LES to find innovative ways to meet customers’ current and future needs, while balancing low rates and reliable service with environmentally sustainable options.
LES is pleased by the recognition of its CEO for the great work he does for public power. “We are very proud of Kevin’s accomplishments and pleased he has been given this well-deserved recognition,” said Layne Sup, LES Administrative Board Chair and CEO of Binary Net and Infinite Systems. “We see this type of exemplary work from him day in and day out. His ability to get others to the table to talk and commitment to hearing all sides is just part of what has made him a great leader here at LES.”
