Authorities identify 2 people killed in Crete crash
Authorities have identified two people killed in a head-on crash on Highway 33 Wednesday afternoon.
Crete Police Chief Steve Hensel said Clarence Patzloff, age 57, and Janice Silva, age 85, of Milligan died Wednesday from their injuries.
Hensel said their 2002 Oldsmobile Alero was westbound on Highway 33 entering Crete when it crossed a turn lane, continued into the eastbound lane, and struck a 2018 Ford F150 pick-up truck driven by Kevin Schwartzer, age 55, of Omaha. Schwartzer was flown to Bryan West in Lincoln by StarCare air ambulance. He was listed in critical condition Thursday afternoon.
“We don’t know why their car veered into the on-coming lane,” Hensel said.
Autopsies have been scheduled and the accident is still under investigation.
