Family of slain 15-year-old seeks help from public
Lincoln Police are still searching for answers after a shooting that occurred last Sunday night. A 15-year-old Lincoln Northeast student was shot and killed.
Police say Ali Al–Burkat was one of three people inside a car near north 7th and Fletcher.
An altercation occurred, which led to gun shots being fired at the car. He was taken to a nearby Walgreen's for help. When officials arrived, they performed CPR and transported Al-Burkat to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
All–Burkat's family says he was always smiling and willing to help others. Now, his family is reaching out to the public for help.
The teen's 16th birthday is next week, and the family is hoping to have answers by then.
"If you have any like names, videos, anything from that night that happened, we want to know," says Dunia Al-Musa, aunt of Ali. "We do want to tell the driver of the car, [and] person who brought his car here, please speak up, say the truth because Ali's family lost their son. I just want to help to help Ali get justice that's all that I need."
Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
