The Nebraska State Patrol says several agencies worked together to take a suspect into custody following a pursuit that crossed several Nebraska counties Monday evening.

It happened around 9:45 p.m., when the Sutton Police Department received a report that a stolen truck was in the area.

Officers found the truck and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled.

Authorities then pursued the vehicle on several county roads, east into Fillmore County, and eventually north into York County.

The Sheriff's Offices of Clay, Fillmore, and York Counties all assisted in the pursuit, which went on for 56 miles.

Officials say it ended when the truck crashed into a ditch near Z road between 18th and 19th roads on York/Hamilton county line.

The driver then fled into a cornfield.

Authorities then searched the area and were able to find the suspect hiding in a culvert, in the early morning hours of Tuesday.

Nebraska State Troopers were able to identify the man at the scene, using the mobile AFIS fingerprint device.

The driver, 49-year-old, Scott Rector, of Omaha, was arrested for willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest and possession of stolen property.

He has been lodged in York County Jail.
