Lincoln police revealed the winners of a book challenge Wednesday afternoon.

The victory went to students at Lincoln Cathedral and they were brought to the station in police cruisers.

Officers treated them to some pizza and ice cream for lunch. They also got a brief tour of the police station.

Chief Jeff Bleimiester says the thousands of pages the students read is impressive.

"Reading has never been the strength for me and so when I sit here and listen to everything they have read and the fact that we get to interact with them in this manner, it's really great," Bleimiester said.

Officers also handed out trophies to the students who have read the most during the challenge.

It was a small gesture from police officers who say it was the least they could do for being defeated by the students.
