'$5 Bits of Broken Chair' Trophy rivalry returns for Nebraska vs. Minnesota
The $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy started in 2014, and the trophy has been taken by the winning team of the Nebraska–Minnesota football game every year since.
The past year it has been on display all over Nebraska.
The tradition raises money for the Team Jack Foundation and the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital.
The tradition started over Twitter and Reddit.
"The general objective is to raise a lot of money for these two very deserving charities; these organizations that have been very supportive of our efforts. We feel that they are two organizations that are really tied to the universities and football team, specifically and trophy or no trophy that is our ultimate goal," says Jordan Rapp, who's involved with the $5 Bits of Broken Chair organization.
The goal this year is to raise $20,000, with $10,000 going to each organization.
