Student arrested for social media post threatening school shooting, officials say
Authorities said a 16-year-old student was arrested after reportedly making a social media post that contained a school shooting threat.
The Gage County Sheriff's Office said the Southern High School student - who is not being identified - was arrested for terroristic threats after school administrators reported the post.
Deputies from the sheriff’s office and the Wymore police chief responded for the initial report and an investigator from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office followed up on the investigation, contacting the Wymore chief of police and school administrators. The schools in Wymore and Blue Springs were notified, as well as the Southern Schools superintendent and the Wymore police chief.
GSCO said deputies were made aware of the incident and had extra patrols at the Wymore and Blue Springs schools on Monday.
