Power of the Purse event raises funds for Lincoln children
A fundraiser was held at the Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel late Thursday evening to raise money for CEDARS.
More than 400 women attended the Power of the Purse fundraiser to bid on beautiful handbags and eat the delicious hors d'oeurves provided.
All the proceeds from the event will go towards supporting CEDARS, an organization that strives to help children find safety and stability.
Tina Reeves, the organizer of the event, discussed her transition from starting out as just a Lincoln resident who attended the fundraiser in the past, to planning this year's entire event.
"I can still remember the first time I went and I was like 'I want to plan this!'," Reeves said. "It's the best job ever, to be able to do this and have fun and put on a great event, but also know in the end we're supporting the children in the community."
Thursday evening marked Power of the Purse's sixteenth year.
Last years event helped serve 2,441 children and 294 families in Lincoln.
