Strong Wind Gusts Cause Damage Across Capital City
Wind gusts of more than 50 miles an hour caused havoc all across the Capital City Thursday. Large semi-trucks were blown onto their sides along Interstate 80. The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office tells Channel 8 Eyewitness News that at least three accidents are being blamed on the wind. The Nebraska State Patrol even shut down westbound sections of the interstate.
The wind is also being blamed for damage at Nebraska Transmission on West “P” street. A large piece of aluminum from nearby is believed to have been thrown around by the wind, leaving a huge gash in a building.
