Suspicious Envelope Causes Stir

A suspicious envelope caused quite a stir for authorities and workers in a downtown Lincoln government building Saturday.

It happened at the Citizenship and Immigration Services building, or former INS building, near 8th and “S” Streets.

The envelope had some powder in it and a note saying “This is for Sadaam”.  So workers were moved to another floor for a couple of hours until the substance could be checked out.

Analysis by the Health Department and Haz-Mat crews showed the powder was a cleaning agent.  There were no injuries and things returned to normal Saturday.
