T. Boone Talks Energy Independence In Lincoln
T. Boone Pickens says he's told both the Democratic and Republican presidential contenders that he's analyzed the nation's energy problems and has the solution.
Pickens said Wednesday in Lincoln that his plan is nonpartisan and that he's volunteered his ideas to both parties' presumptive nominees, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
The Texas billionaire is traveling the country promoting his plan to use natural gas to help move the United States to energy independence. Pickens' plan calls for erecting wind turbines in the Midwest to generate electricity, replacing the 22 percent of U.S. power produced from natural gas. The freed-up natural gas then could be used to power vehicles now reliant on gasoline and diesel.
