Teen arrested for stabbing Dawes school counselor

Tianna Hamilton

Lincoln Police say a 17-year-old girl was arrested after stabbing a school counselor Wednesday afternoon.

Police officer Katie Flood says Tianna Hamilton was arguing with the father of Dawes Middle School student outside.  Flood says the 60-year-old counselor saw the two arguing and told police Hamilton was pounding on the man's truck causing damage.  Police say the counselor tried to restrain Hamilton when she pulled out a steak knife and stabbed him in the leg twice.

Police say the father didn't want Hamilton hanging around his child.  The counselor was treated and released for his injuries.  Hamilton was arrested for 2nd degree assault and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Lincoln Police say Hamilton was just cited last month for threatening to get a gun and shoot a Yankee Hill teacher in the face.  Police say the teacher was fearful that Hamilton would carry out the threat.  This was just one day after the fatal shooting at Millard South High School.
