The Best of the Class of 2004 Honored
With caps and gowns in hand on a beautiful spring morning, some of the areas top high school students posed for pictures with their peers and shared a luncheon specifically held in their honor. Eighty six of the top students in their respective high schools attended the first annual Best of the Class salute held at Nebraska Wesleyan University on Wednesday, May 5th.
In the morning, students interacted with other students as Channel 8 KLKN-TV camera crews video taped them. The video tape shot, will be incorporated into Best of the Class commercial announcements, which will air on Channel 8 KLKN-TV starting May 13. As the temperature shot towards 90 degrees, the students posed for group pictures before being treated to a short program and a luncheon catered by The Parthenon. The luncheon program was co-hosted by Channel 8 Eyewitness News anchors Rod Fowler and Natalie Faunce. Nebraska Wesleyan University president, Dr. Jeanie Watson officially welcomed the students, and their parents and friends to the campus. Keynote speaker Kelly Eaton congratulated the students on their achievements and offered timely advice on what to do about their future education.
Each student received a certificate of achievement and a t-shirt commemorating the day. Nebraska Wesleyan University, the College Savings Plan of Nebraska and The Parthenon co-sponsored the event along with Channel 8 KLKN-TV.
