The Controversial Concealed Weapons Bill Crossed A Major Hurdle On Tuesday
State Senators on Tuesday advanced a proposed bill that would allow Nebraskans to carry a concealed weapon. The next round of debate could get heated. As seen during Tuesday's debate, there are many strong opinions on the issue.
Nebraska is only one of seven states that doesn't have some type of concealed weapons law, but that doesn't change the minds of opponents who say the proposed bill would be dangerous for the citizens of our safe cities. One Lincoln gun shop owner says as the law states now, if you carry a concealed weapon and use it, you later must prove in court that it was used in self defense. In other words, he says guilty until proven innocent.
The bill will move onto the second round.. Where there will be more debate. If it survives there it will move on to a final vote.
