The Governor Heads Out On Three Day Tax Break Tour
Governor Dave Heineman has begun a three day tour, talking about his plan to create jobs. He's hoping a new set of tax incentives, called Nebraska tax advantage, takes effect January first. In about eight years, it's expected to provide around 200-million dollars a year in tax breaks to qualifying companies. Supporters say the updates are needed because Nebraska has fallen behind in job competition, but opponents say the cost in lost revenue is not worth the benefit.
