Press Release: Lincoln, Nebraska (June 11, 2015) – The Center for People in Need is celebrating the holiday by offering the opportunity for children in needy families to select a gift for their dad.

The event hours are Saturday, June 13 from 10 AM to Noon.

Beatty Brasch, Executive Director of the Center for People in Need says the event will help children experience the joy of giving.

“Families in poverty struggle to put food on their tables, pay their rent and keep their electricity turned on,” Brasch said. “As we work to assist those families with their basic needs, it is also important to help children experience the joy and self worth that comes through giving. Father’s Day is a great time for children to recognize the role that fathers play in their lives and experience a joyful family moment.”

Brasch noted that 25% of families at the Center live on less than $500 a month.

Over 30 volunteers are scheduled to assist with the Father’s Day event. They will help the children wrap gifts and create cards for dads.
