There Soon Could be 12 More L-P-D Officers

For years the Lincoln Police Department has been anxious to add more officers. Tuesday Mayor Don Wesely announced they may get what they want. Right now there are 303 officers on the force. If the Mayor and the Police Chief get their way, there could soon be 12 more.

Chief Tom Casady says even if the new positions are approved the department is so understaffed that they will still need 36 more. And if the city doesn't act soon they could lose thousands of dollars in federal funding.
