Three people killed in Custer County crash

Three people have been killed and nine others transported in a crash involving a Broken Bow Public School van and a pick-up truck.

The crash happened just before 4 p.m. Friday near Ansley on Highway 2. Troopers say the preliminary investigation indicates a pick-up traveling east on Highway 2 crossed the center line and struck a van registered to Broken Bow Public Schools.

The male driver of the pick-up was killed, as were the male driver and male front seat passenger in the school van. Two of the victims were Broken Bow basketball coaches, Anthony Blum, 24, and Zane Harvey, 38.  Eight boys' basketball players were taken to the hospital. Two were released. Some are in critical condition.
