Tom Osborne Endorses Bill To Compensate Veterans
One group of men who served in World War II say they were treated unfairly when they returned home. Now they want compensation from the Federal government. The Merchant Mariners say they had the highest casualty rate out of any other military branch during the war. But since they were a volunteer group, they never got anything from the government for their sacrifice. But there's now a bill in Congress that would give them a thousand dollars a month. Nebraska Congressman Tom Osborne is one of the representatives pushing for the bill's passage. As of right now, there are more than 150 supporters for the bill in Washington. They need a total 217.
