Tornado Siren Not Activated for Eagle Residents

More storms ripped through southeast Nebraska over the weekend. Many in Waverly witnessed several funnel and wall clouds. The system then worked its way southeast towards the Eagle area. But the tornado sirens there never sounded.

According to Cass County Emergency Management, Eagle was on the list of towns asked to sound their tornado sirens on Sunday. But the Eagle Fire Chief says he never got that call. He was out tracking the storm, and says he never felt Eagle was in danger. Cass County Emergency Management says it doesn't know why Chief Weyers never received the order to sound the alarms. But even if he had, they say, the decision is ultimately his.
