Toxins In Corn
Its yet another problem caused by the drought. Now, a toxic mold called Aflatoxin, has been growing on corn, due to the lack of moisture. The toxin causes cancer in humans. Corn that tests above 20 parts per billion is dangerous for humans to consume and anything over 300 parts per billion is considered unmarketable. Officials say the most common readings right now are anywhere from zero to 150 parts per billion. That means the majority of that is not safe for human consumption.. Leaving some farmers empty handed.
