Trains Collide in West Lincoln
A run-away locomotive collided with a freight train in West Lincoln Thursday. Burlington Northern says the wreck is a result of human error. The run-away locomotive was being operated via remote-control by an engineer hundreds of yards away in the switching yard. The driver failed to stop the engine in time. The derailment has been cleaned up. A spokesperson says luckily nobody was injured in the collision because nobody was aboard.
The remote-control engines have been a sore-spot for local engineers. They rallied earlier this month. They think not having a human engineer onboard a train makes collisions like this one a lot more likely.
