Lincoln Fire and Rescue says a fire destroyed a tree house near 19th and Lake Monday afternoon.

Firefighters say the tree house was engulfed in flames when they arrived. The fire quickly spread to the branches and sparked a grass fire in the neighbors yard. Crews were able to put the blaze out swiftly before more damage was done.

“They’ll be able to stay here tonight,” Derald Murrell, the LFR Battalion Chief, said.  “There was no smoke damage to the inside.  We evacuated the residents next door, just to warn those people that they should be aware of what’s going on.  There’s no damage to their house, either.”

No one was hurt in the fire and the cause is still being investigated.
