Trevor Johnson is December Athlete of Month for AD3I

Overland Park, Kan. – Nebraska Wesleyan senior Trevor Johnson received Student-Athlete of the month recognition for the month of December from theAssociation of Division III Independents (AD3I). Kelly McNamee from St. Joseph's College was the female winner.


Johnson, a senior forward from Lincoln, Neb., led the team throughout the month in scoring at 20.7 points per game as the Prairie Wolves went 3-3 in December. Johnson has been a dead eye from the field all season ranking among the nation leaders and is currently first in the country. He shot 78 percent (46-59) from the floor in December.


The Lincoln Pius X H.S. product filled out the stat sheet for the Prairie Wolves all month averaging 7.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.0 steals. He had four games with at least 20 points. He had his best game of the month on Dec. 7 against Northwestern College scoring a career-best 30 points on 12-14 shooting. He followed that game with a 24-point, 8-rebound performance in a win over Concordia. The senior recorded a double-double in the Prairie Wolves win against Briar Cliff on Dec. 21 on a perfect 8-8 shootingwith 11 rebounds and five assists.


Johnson leads the Prairie Wolves in scoring this season averaging 18.7 points per game and leads NAIA Division II in field goal percentage at 72.1 percent.


Nebraska Wesleyan is 8-6 on the year and will try to snap their current three-game losing streak on Wednesday with a trip to Crete, Neb., to face rival Doane College.
