Lincoln Police arrested a pair of suspects involved in a rock throwing incident that led to gunshots. It happened near south 21st and Washington around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Police say a man chased a group of men into an alley after he caught them throwing rocks at cars. That's when police say the group fired a gun and then drove away in an SUV. Police attempted to stop the vehicle near 25th and 'E' Streets when one person got out of the vehicle and ran. Officers were unable to locate him.

Police arrested 26–year–old Javier Mendoza and 23–year–old John Brooks after another call came in near south 46th and 'E' streets.   That's where police say the men ditched the SUV and hid two guns under a tree while a separate vehicle picked them up.  According to a 9-1-1- report, one of the men walked away south bound.  He hasn't been located either. Police continue to look for two men involved in the incident.

Mendoza and Brooks were arrested for unlawful discharge of a firearm and Mendoza received an additional charge of Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
