Two Beatrice teachers injured by student

The Beatrice school district is reviewing where to place one of its special-education students after the fifth-grader injured two teachers.

One Lincoln Elementary School teacher needed stitches Monday after the boy struck the teacher on his head with a pen swiped from the teacher's shirt pocket.

Beatrice Police Chief Bruce Lang says the student also hurt a female teacher by pulling her hair before the male teacher intervened. Superintendent Jon Lopez said Tuesday the student is in the special-education program and has disabilities that make it difficult to control behavior.

The other students in the class were sent out of the room before the male teacher was hurt. Lopez declined to release names of the people involved.
