Two Nebraska Soldiers Killed in Iraq

The Nebraska Army National Guard says a Lincoln soldier and a North Platte native have been killed in northern Iraq. The guard says an explosive device exploded near a convoy near the city of Samarra, Iraq, on Sunday. Three others were injured. The guard identified the victims as 26-year-old Sergeant Jeremy Fischer of Lincoln and Sergeant First Class Linda Tarango-Griess of North Platte.

The two soldiers were members of the 257th Ordinance company based in Lincoln. They had been in Iraq since February.
