University Budget Cuts
As expected, the main campus of the University of Nebraska will shoulder the majority of budget cuts approved by the legislature this summer. Thursday, University President – L. Dennis Smith released a breakdown of how much each campus will bear of the 15-million dollars in cuts. He says final decisions will be announced in mid-November. The Lincoln campus will lose seven and a half-million dollars, followed by the medical center in Omaha with a three-million dollar cut. The University of Nebraska at Omaha will lose two-point-three-million dollars, followed by the Kearney campus with a one-point-two-million dollar reduction.
