ID required to ship with UPS

If you plan on sending a package through UPS, you'll need to show your government-issued ID.

The new policy went in to effect Tuesday.  The new rule comes after explosives were found on two cargo flights, operated by other companies, back in October.

Justin Peterson, owns the UPS store near 70th and Van Dorn streets and says the new requirement isn't that big of a deal.  “It's a good step.  Most of our customers carry picture IDs when they come in for check verification or for credit cards, so it shouldn't be a big problem.”

If you have a prepaid UPS label, you don't need to worry about showing identification.

Also, if you don't have ID you can still send items through other means, like the postal service.
