Pints for Pounds kicks off

The Nebraska Community Blood Bank teams up with Russ's Market, Del Monte Foods and the Food Bank in “Pints for Pounds” campaign.

Volunteer blood donors make a lifesaving difference every day and during March the impact of their gift is even greater as the Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB) teams up with Russ's Market, Del Monte Foods and the Food Bank of Lincoln for the fifth annual “Pints for Pounds” campaign.

Beginning March 16, for every pint of blood donated at any Nebraska Community Blood Bank location, a pound of food will be donated to the Food Bank of Lincoln. “Pints for Pounds benefits two vital community organizations,” stated Scott Young, Executive Director of the Food Bank of Lincoln. “Every donation helps improve the quality of life for many.” The campaign's goal is 2,000 pounds / pints, a ton of food and thousands of lives saved. The campaign runs thru March 31.

Food Bank of Lincoln collection barrels will also be at all NCBB sites for anyone wishing to make their contribution even greater by donating food or personal care supplies. Canned meats, soup, vegetables and fruits, diapers, toilet paper and soap are amongst the most needed items.

To make an appointment to donate, call the NCBB Appointment Line, 877-486-9414 or visit www.NCBB.org.
