Volunteer Centers help in time of Disaster

Almost six years ago, Tornadoes swept through southern Lancaster county destroying many farms and nearly wiping out the town of Hallam. The days after, hundreds of volunteers came to the area wanting to help victims and with cleanup.

An emergency volunteer center was set up to handle the flood of volunteers.  A training session was held with citizens to learn how volunteer centers work in times of disasters. Those who came say it's important for people to come together when others are in need.

The session was put on by Volunteer Partners and United Way. If you'd like more information on Emergency Volunteer Centers you can call them at 435-2100.
