Volunteer firefighter cited for DUI
The Saunders County Sheriff says the firefighter wrecked a fire truck Sunday night while responding to a fire.
Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz says Rodney Lovell was headed to a fire in Valparaiso Sunday night. The Sheriff says Lovell, who is a volunteer firefighter for Ceresco, drove the fire truck into a ditch and it got stuck. The vehicle had to be towed out, and it had some damage.
Lovell was cited for DUI. The Sheriff says the Ceresco Fire Chief will determine whether Lovell will stay on as a firefighter. Saunders County Attorney Scott Tingelhoff says he has not yet reviewed the case to determine charges against Lovell.
