Water-use Restrictions Could Be Made Permanent

The effects of a multiyear drought have the city of Lincoln considering whether to make water-use restrictions permanent. The city is considering asking residents to make a habit of water conservation by watering their lawns no more than every other day. In the past, such water conservation steps were taken at the mayor's request. But now offcials say the city is considering permanently imposing that policy. They say the every-other-day schedule would still be voluntary, as long as residents comply.
