Weather takes toll on crops

Federal officials say last week's wet weather degraded the quality of hay, flooded some fields and delayed late-spring work on Nebraska's farms.

U.S. Department of Agriculture said Monday in its weekly Nebraska weather and crops report that the wet conditions put applications of herbicides and nitrogen behind schedule.

The report says soybean planting was 99 percent complete and that 93 percent had emerged.  The corn crop was rated 78 percent good or excellent.  Wheat was rated at 70 percent good or excellent.
