About 160 members of a Nebraska Army National Guard company are returning home from Afghanistan. The guard says the soldiers of the 623rd Engineer Company based in Wahoo with a detachment in Hastings will be welcomed home Friday night at the Wahoo High School football field.

The company has been in Afghanistan for a year. The guard says the soldiers were responsible for a number of construction projects, including running a pre-fabrication shop while building barracks, guard towers and running electrical lines.

A number of dignitaries are expected at the welcome home ceremony, set for 8:30 p.m., including Gov. Dave Heineman and Maj. Gen. Judd Lyons, adjutant general for Nebraska.
