Winter Storm Warning issued

Posted By:  KLKN Newsroom

It will go into effect early on Wednesday until Thursday morning.

Wednesday brings our first winter storm of the season. As it looks right now, snow should begin to fall around the lunch hour and continuing, heavy at times, until Thursday morning. Northwest winds will also be very strong, causing concern for blowing snow and whiteout conditions that could last even after the snow has stopped falling Thursday morning. Travel will be very hazardous all along I-80. The heaviest snow looks to fall along and just south of I-80, where 4″-8″ will be common. Lesser accumulations look to take place northwest of a line from Grand Island to Columbus, where 2″-5″ will be more common.

Otherwise highs will reach 30 degrees on Wednesday but due to the high winds it winds it will feel more like the teens. After Thursday we'll remain cold and dry all of the way through the weekend but another winter storm could be on tap come Monday, Christmas Eve into Christmas Day.
